The Arizona Accordion Club is embarking on an ambitious project to help finance a most promising young artist, Sammy Thomas, to enable him to continue his pursuit toward reaching his goal as one of the world's greatest accordionists. Having recently lost his father, his family is unable to provide the necessary means for this end. Sammy is in urgent need of a high-quality instrument, as his old accordion is all "played out". The Arizona Accordion Club has initiated a scholarship fund to help him further his quest and is inviting the accordion community in the United States to join us by sharing in our common effort.

Sammy is the current 18 year old AAA (American Association of Accordionists) sponsored US champion. He represented the United States in the Coupe Mondiale in Oslo, Norway, last October (2006), emerging 4th in the world in the Junior Virtuoso Performance category. Due to limited funds he may not be able to represent the United States this year in a similar contest in Washington, DC in August. What a shame, if this were the case!

We urge all concerned clubs, as well as individuals, to join us in this all-out effort.
